The Bible speaks of being saved though believing Christ. But how are we saved? What is\nsalvation? Is it a psychological state of mind? Ten days after Christ ascended into heaven, and fifty days after His crucifixion, the Holy Spirit was sent from heaven. This was the Day of Pentecost, an important feast of Israel. Those first waiting believers were \u201call filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.\u201d Acts 2, 4. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\u201cI first heard the gospel in late 1989 while\nserving in the U.S. military, a time in my life\nwhen I had seen and done all that to me\nwas worth seeing and doing. I was empty\nand looking for answers. The Lord was\ngracious and sent someone to answer all of\nmy questions straight from the bible. I had\nasked the same questions before to a\ncatholic priest, but he only offered his\nopinions and some philosophical advice. So\nafter I saw in the bible the answer to my\nquestions I was ready to listen. That\nevening I was baptized by full immersion,\nand a month later I was filled with God's\nHoly Spirit. I knew that's what happened to\nme because it was the same experience\nthat the Apostles had and Jesus had said\nwould happen to every believer, that is,\nthose who would obey his command to be\nborn again.\nI have experienced the power of God\nthrough miraculous healing, provision,\nanswered prayers for all sorts of situations. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\u201cGrowing up, I went to a Catholic church,\nbut never really practiced it. Praying when I\nremembered and going to church 4 times a\nyear didn\u2019t benefit me at all. I was witnessed\nto in October 2021 and went to a meeting\nshortly after. The meeting did shock me so I\nstopped going, but about a month later I\nrealized that the fellowship was preaching\nGod\u2019s word and not just their opinion as\nother churches do. I started praying for the\nholy spirit and going to the meetings. My\nfrustration in not receiving lead me to\ndoubting God at times. I decided to go to\ncamp and I was very determined to receive\nat that point. I kept getting frustrated that I\nwasn\u2019t receiving but I did know that it was all\nin God\u2019s timing. I received the holy spirit\nwith the evidence of speaking in tongues on\na Sunday morning at camp.
